Lies are original, the truth is plagiarized.

My senses have been taught

how to swim,

So when I drown at the

epicentre of my grief,

I lose hold of them and spot

their blurred vision on the shore.

I am catcalled so many names in

every nook of my home city, but

everytime someone calls me a human I am

pulverized to take another step forward

and walk home quietly.

My receptors aren't in a war like yours,

mine are rather in a museum aligned

in discord as if a mural with it's

toe fingers left unpainted.

I lost five marks in every EVS exam.

I hear with my slammed lips.

Even to the daughter of silence who mourns

her mother to sing lullabies. I have sealed my lips with

stale kerosene and words have sparks.

I smell lies with my eyes. Lies are original, the truth is plagiarized.

I haven't felt a thing with my skin.

Skin is to taste, and tongue is to feel.

Your tastebuds peppered like ashes on tortilla cheeks.

My nose has a vision, to see beyond the scent of flowers and sniffing seagulls.

My nose doesn't clog in cough, mine goes blind.

running eyes and blinded noses.

Even when you open your chest on the paper,

it weighs the same?

because paper has literature

but not literacy.

If you bury a litmus sheet on my elbow joint,

it will always turn red. Not because I am acidulated,

but because I am anything but not basic.
